Channels 1-9 bronx,11-20 are Brooklyn, 21-27 manhattan, 28-36 queens and 37-39 Staten Island. I was shocked that I was transmitting Staten Island from the Bronx, that’s over 31.9 miles.
On 5 June 2012, Charles Hargrove, N2NOV, of Staten Island, provided the NYC-ARECS team with a hands-on overview and demonstration of various digital modes of communications including Fldigi. A total of 13 members (and three guest), spent 90 minutes learning to setup their computers for digital communications and even exchanged messages across the room via digital signals / via the computer sound boards. Fldigi is a computer program intended for Amateur Radio Digital Modes operation using a PC (Personal Computer). Fldigi operates (as does most similar software) in conjunction with a transceiver, and uses the PC sound card as the main means of input from the radio, and output to the radio. Fldigi is an additional mode in of which communications can be conducted during an emergency, it can be...

What is Staten Island? This, is Staten Island. (Locations & song name below!) Let me ask you a question. Have you truly been to Staten Island? Like REALLY been here? When I take the ferry home from work every day I hear, “What’s in Staten Island?”, “What do they even have there?”, “What do they do there?” and an abundance of other questions from tourists, which partly sparked the idea for this project. Well, if you’ve taken the ferry to St. George only to see the Statue of Liberty for free, just to make a U-turn inside the terminal & get back on the same boat to head back to Manhattan…then no, you haven’t been here. What’s wrong with leaving the terminal, exploring, walking around a bit, maybe having something to eat? Living on Staten Island for 24 years has given me some insight into t...

The global economy is in crisis. The exponential exhaustion of natural resources, declining productivity, slow growth, rising unemployment, and steep inequality, forces us to rethink our economic models. Where do we go from here? In this feature-length documentary, social and economic theorist Jeremy Rifkin lays out a road map to usher in a new economic system. This 21st century smart digital infrastructure is giving rise to a radical new sharing economy that is transforming the way we manage, power and m...
The College of Staten Island Legal Studies Institute’s Annual Lecture in Law, Philosophy, and Public Policy presents Richard A. Epstein, The Laurence A. Tisch Professor of Law, Director of the Classical Liberal Institute, New York University School of Law, “The Classical Liberal Constitution and Religious Liberty” on Wednesday, Nov. 18, 2015. The past few years have marked a huge assault on religious liberty, as embodied in the Free Exercise Clause of the First Amendment, and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act of 1993. The modern progressive view narrowly confines free exercise to religious worship and ritual, but it also insists that free exercise should be overridden to prevent discrimination on the grounds, most notably, of race and sexual orientation, even in competitive markets. ...

In location after location Norberg examines the contemporary relevance of Friedman’s ideas in the 2011 world of globalization and financial crisis. Central to his examination are the perennial questions concerning power and prosperity, and the trade-offs between individual liberty and income equality. Phil Siracusa is the author of the book entitled, "The Horsefly Chronicles". He was born in 1967 in Staten Island, New York. He grew up in a household of eight. Phil's adventure with the Mafia began when he became a bouncer at a couple of local bars in his hometown. When they got word of his gift, they asked him for guidance from the other side. Phil ventured into bodybuilding and owned several fitness centers throughout his career. In 1999 he married his wife Julia, has four boys, and resides in Easton, Pennsylvania. He currently works in sales within the telecommunications industry. Antonio Santi Giuseppe Meucci (Italian: [anˈtɔːnjo meˈuttʃi]; 1808–1889) was an Italian inventor and also a friend and associate of the Italian nationalist Giuseppe Garibaldi. Meucci is best known for developing a voice-communication apparatus which several sources credit as the first telephone. Meucci set up a form of voice-communication link in his Staten Island, New York, home that connected its second-floor bedroom to his laboratory. He submitted a patent caveat for his telephonic device to the U.S. Patent Office in 1871, but there was no mention of electromagnetic transmission of vocal sound in his caveat. In 1876, Alexander Graham Bell was granted a patent for the electromagnetic transmission of vocal sound by undulatory electric current. This video is targeted to blind users. Att...
